Both of these merits can be attributed to the Warmia and Masuria Ultrasound Days organized in Olsztyn already for the sixth time. The conference was held last weekend (17-19 October 2014) and apart from numerous participants, it also attracted ultrasound specialists from around the world.
The central theme of the meeting was difficult and rare cases in ultrasound diagnostics. Practical observations and conclusions were shared by gynecologists, orthopedists, pediatricians, ENT specialists and urologists. Very interesting lectures aided by numerous clinical examples as well as diagnostic images demonstrated the importance of: insightful holistic observation of a patient, accuracy and precision of ultrasound examination in comparison with other examinations such as magnetic resonance, as well as prophylaxis and repeatability of image diagnostics. All of those factors are very crucial in diagnostics, especially in the presented difficult cases.
The stereotypical approach to the job of an anesthesiologist was challenged by Capt. Dr. Tomasz Wiśniewski from the Military Field Hospital in Ghazni (Afghanistan) by presenting portable ultrasound scanners from Dramiński, but most importantly, displaying their practical application in critical life-saving situations in which we cannot rely only on our intuition.
Apart from the valuable exchange of experience, it was also a pleasant time spent among good friends met during previous editions, an escape from everyday life, but most importantly, an opportunity for drawing inspiration. We are happy that once again we have managed to meet the expectations of the participants and retain the high level of the lectures presented during the event.
We would like to thank all of the participants for their presence and active involvement in the lectures, the Hotel Park’s management for providing their facilities to us, as well as for their professional service and hospitality. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the Polish Ultrasound Society and to all lecturers for another year of fruitful cooperation and support in this important project. It is thanks to you that the ultrasound conference is gaining renown year after year and is becoming a brand itself. The date and the topic of the next – seventh edition – coming soon!
